4/8/10 Columbus Locals Are Coming to Satellite
We've been told by sources at WTVM/WXTX that Columbus locals should be up on Dish Network very soon. The equipment
is in place and is being tested. Plans to install the equipment for DirecTV should begin in May.
7/30/09 Still need a coupon?
If you still need one of the $40 coupons for a converter box time is running out. Tomorrow,
July 31st is the last day to request a coupon. You can still request up until midnight.
Go to www.dtv.gov to request a coupon.
6/14/09 We are back
I had no idea this had happened but sometime during the last month my web host had ceased operations. To my knowleged I got no notification this was happening. I now have a new host
and everything is back up. I may have lost a few updates here and there because I lost all the files from my host and I'm having to use an older copy I had on another computer. Hopefully my new host will be better than the last. It was a perfect time for the site to go down. Right in the middle of the big switch. Hopefully everyone has made the transition with no problems.
1/5/09 WXTX Adds MGM's This TV
WXTX has recently added This TV to their 54.2 sub channel. This TV is owned by MGM and primarily plays movie and tv
programming that MGM owns the rights for.

01/01/08 DTV converter box coupons now available
If you will be in need of a converter box next when analog signals turn off, you can now request a $40 coupon to go to the purchase of the box.
To request a coupon, you can apply online at www.dtv2009.gov starting today. There is also a 24-hour hotline
to take requests, 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009)..
10/01/07 The Tube Signs Off
As of today The Tube, previously on 54.2, will no longer be available. www.thetubetv.com.
2/7/07 WTVM Completes Upgrade
WTVM has now completed their upgrade on their tower. Their transmitter is now at a higher height and you should be able to see an improvement in
signal strength.
10/24/06 Station Upgrades
This information is being posted here late but, WRBL, WXTX, WTVM and WLTZ are now all "full" power. With the exception of WTVM all have also raised
their transmitters. WTVM is currently in the process up upgrading the tower so that they can move up to a higher level too. It is expected to be complete
early in the new year.
4/12/06 WXTX Upgrades
Today, WXTX moved their transmitter 400 feet up the tower and now have a more omni directional pattern. They will still be operating
at 50% power until further upgrades are complete.
1/5/06 WTVM Adds Weather Now
WTVM has now added Weather Now to 9-2. It includes a weather radar, a 7-day forcast, and weather conditions for surrounding cities. It also appears to show recorded
weather forecasts from time to time.
12/5/05 Charter Cable HD
It looks like Charter Cable is also offering HD packages now. Their package only includes a few channels as of now. In their HD Tier they have HDNet, HDNet Movies, ESPN, and Atlanta Braves Baseball - HD. This presumably would carry the TBS games offered in HD. They also offer HBO-HD and Showtime-HD
as premier channels. It seems no locals are offerred at this time. I was told on the phone today the HD box rental is $3/month and there is a one time $14.99 install fee. Check
www.charter.com for more information.
12/4/05 Cable TV of East Alabama HD
According to their website, Cable TV of East Alabama now offers an HD package. Their offering is similar to other providers including ESPN-HD,
HDNet, HDNet Movies, Discover HD, HBO-HD and Showtime-HD. It also says they have locals but does not specifically say which ones. More information can be

11/30/05 Upgrades Underway For Full Power
Plans are currently underway at both WXTX and WLTZ to move to full power. WXTX hopes to have their upgrade completed in Spring of '06. WLTZ hopes to
have their upgraded completed before the July 1 mandate. WTVM's upgrade schedule is uncertain at this poing. They are currently looking at the possibility
of moving their transmitter to their current tall tower. If that can be done they could be finished in the Spring of next year too. If not, it will be pushed
back later in the year. No information from WRBL or WLGA yet but it will be posted as soon as it is received.
Update: WRBL is shooting for the end of June next year for their upgrade to full power and a move to the taller tower. They will also be showing a half hour
special to help explain the digital transition. A date and time have not been decided at this time.
11/22/05 Mediacom HD lineup added
We've finally added the HD lineup for Mediacom on the Cable page.
8/3/05 The Tube Has Moved
The Tube has now been moved over to WXTX and is on 54-2.
7/5/05 WSWS is now WLGA
WSWS has now changed their call letters to WLGA. Nothing else regarding the station has changed
6/7/05 WTVM adds The Tube
WTVM has added The Tube, a music video channel, to 9-2. You can learn more about it at www.thetubetv.com
2/28/05 New WSWS Tower Collapses
The new tower that was being constructed in Cusseta for WSWS collapased Sunday. This is undoubtedly a major setback for WSWS. (Thanks to DJ).
